Recently I had the battery replaced in my 2003 sunfire. Prior to changing the battery, all my instrument panel lights and gauges worked. After the battery was changed, the lights work but the speedometer, gas gauge, etc. do not. The shop that replaced the battery looked over the vehicle and claim that nothing they could have done would have caused that. The fuses are all good. Any clue what might be wrong and how to determine so?

Could be one of two things.
A lost ground or the computer in the car needs to be reprogrammed. If you say that the lights are on, I would probably go with the computer. Stop by a mechanic and have them check it out. The computer will lose its memory and program if the battery was dead for an extended period of time.

sounds like a fuse, maybe there is another fuse for those instruments under the hood. If not, when installing the battery, they may have shorted out those instrument lights

check with the dealer. i'll bet the changing of the battery confused the computer in the car or there is a re set button.

have them check the electric circuits. there may be a short or loose wire somewhere. that is what i had was a wire had shorted out where the wire has gotten crimped and the casing on the wire was broken
