I'm making my little cousin a mix for christmas, and I want fun songs that won't make her mother want to kill me- in the vein of YMCA, the Loco-motion, etc. Ideas?

I always loved "I Love Trash"-Oscar The Grouch and "C is for Cookie"-Cookie Monster! Also the Aristocats soundtrack and the Jungle Book soundtrack.

Raffi! He really has some fun and funny songs. Also Tickle Tune (or Toon?) Typhoon does songs that are cute and fun, too. These are really fun, but not annoying. But probably not in the vein of YMCA and Locomotion. Your cousin would be just the right age for these. My daughter loved Raffi, and Tickle Toon Typhoon made some videos, too that were fun.

Dancing songs (like the Cha Cha slide, ones that say what moves to do--my little sister thinks it's too cool)
Show theme songs (Curious George, Seasame Street, etc.)
Instrumentals (Kids can make up their own lyrics)

Kids Bop CDs have contemporary music that is acceptable (though it IS 10 year olds singing contemporary music--which is often painful)

My son is 6 and has always loved Green Day. He listens to pretty much anything but likes what is popular today.
