What is the recipe for success for aspiing fashion designers like myself? I know that fashion is a cutthroat business but I still want to pursue it. What is the best advice a person has to be successful? Where should I start and how can I start climbing that ladder? Any suggestion or advice would help. Thank you.

Create a good portfolio of your designs. This does not have to be expensive. You can have some work printed and refer to a picture site like Blogger.
Talk to people in the business. If you don't live near anyone, write letter. The old kind with envelopes and stamps and some samples of your work.
Talk to the people on the ground a design firms. How did they begin? What advice would they give?

Paris is the fashion capital in the world. I suggest you try and get yourself a job as fashion designer with any designing houses in Paris and move on from there!

Become a famous designer, or intern for a fashion company. Good luck with fashion school. Also, if you go to L.A., California, you might find a good intern job there.
