which fan is broken? sounds to me liek your powersupply or your cpu is over heating. replace the fan, if it still shuts off then try somethign else. the fan is not that expensive, and if your processor is over heating then you could burn up your computer.

Some computer techs that I went to school with in colege were stumped and I had to help get them out of a pit. These students got better grades then I did. The meaning of what I just said is this. Not all computer techs are right. So replace the fan it needs it to stay on. I am not A+ certified but know that if I had the money to take it I know I would pass.

First, you'll need to get access to your software by starting in Safe mode...
While the boot process begins, hit the F8 key to get to your setup screen.
Here you (should) find an option to boot in Safe mode, among other options.
* You can also press and hold the Control key during initial boot...This will get a "stuck key" error, and the Safe Mode option screen will open automatically.
A common trojan bug going around lately involves a tiny file that re-appears on a clean-looking system, in the Windows folder, and it's called "wininit.ini"
Safe mode will get access to Explorer, and tell you if that bug is there...If so, delete it and re-start.
*You can also choose "Boot to DOS" for command-line access to the Windows folder (from the "C:\" prompt, type in "CD\Windows" to get the "C:\Windows" prompt, then type in "delete wininit.ini" and reboot.)
*Remember these steps, because if that bug was there, you got it from a site you trusted (planted by a user), and will get it again before you zero in on the source...I got that bug on a laptop a year ago, and it continued to re-appear about once a month...and I never found the original source.
you didn't mention if the unit actually ran before shutting down, and I'm assuming you're talking about a "won't run" problem.
BTW: You can help to keep the unit cool with room temp, and offering plenty of ventilation under and around the case where it is used.

Hi there could be a few reasons.
If you have a low power supply (300-400Watts) and you have a fast video card then your computer will shut down ramdomly because there is not enough power, so in that case you will need to use a older video card OR change your power supply to like 500Watts or more. Hope this helps

The general rule here is that if this happens randomly, it's probably a hardware problem. If this happens consistently it's probably software. If you've installed software recently, you might want to try 'System Restore' to go back to a time when it was working. If the PC may be overheating you can download software to check the CPU and board temperature. these should not exceed 70 degrees c or 50 degrees C respectively. You may also want to look inside and see how dusty it is as this stops air circulating properly.

Hey, when it comes to electronic items, do not even plan to repair if it is a major problem, like in your case. The best reliable thing to do is to change your computer. Good luck !!
