Kim Wilson of the Fabulous Thunderbirds is a harmonica player. Some people say he's the best, some say "one of the best".
He's also a nice guy. Met him a long time ago in Austin.
Don't know if it's your kind of music though, but since Kim is really into playing the harmonica too I thought I'd give you this recommendation.

Blues Traveler, Bob Dylan, Neil Young,G. Love,Huey Lewis(& the News), James Cotton, Charlie Musselwhite, Taj Mahal, Jimmy Reed, Junior Wells, Paul Butterfield, Muddy Waters, so many great blues harp players! If you haven't heard them give a listen at least for technique, you can always use your own style to make songs to your taste.

A lot of jazz bands use the harmonica. I think the Blues Brothers use a harmonica in their band, too.

The song "Shinedown" by Godsmack has some real harmonica in it. Sully even plays a lead in that song that shreads.
