What advantages, if any, are to be had by dumbing down the general populance, or society overall?

It is easier to control a population if they are poorly educated, or educated only the way you want them to be taught. In some countries it is difficult to get women educated. That is half the population with only basic knowledge. How can they question anything without education?

Ask the Republican party about the advantages, they got their Bush elected another 4 years. If everyone really knew what was going on, do you think we'd really have President Bush as our Commander in Chief?

To maintain control over the populace. Because if we were to know what was really going on there would be uprisings and anarchy.

There isn't any advantages...
I guess maybe then the citizens will not riot to any of the goverment's choices.
