You apply directly to the universities that you would like to teach at. If your Phd comes from an accredited university you will be given a job application and hopefully after that an interview. I would seriously consider working on English grammar. If you are going to be a professor in the USA you will need a stronger command of the language. Your sentence should read I received my Ph.D in math recently. I realize that math is not a "language and grammar" based subject but communicating to your students is a requirement.

If you are interested in teaching at an American university, I recommend that you subscribe to the Chronicle of Higher Education. There are usually plenty of positions listed each week and not all require a "terminal" degree such as a PhD. However, you will probably need to work on your language skills. Also, you may find that your degree may not be equivalent to the American standard.
