Well it sounds just like me...

I only wear make up when I go out during the night. I try to take excelent care of my skin and hair though.
If I ever wear make up during the day then I keep it simple: On the eyes, basically brown shades only: it looks best with a beige eyeshadow underneath the eyebrow, a light brown eyeshadow in the "middle", and a dark brown eye-shadow on the eye-lid. I also use dark brown eye-shadow and a very fine eyelinerbrush as an eyeliner. All these eyeshadows should NOT be shiny nor glittery during the day.
For the eyelashes: brown-black mascara
On the cheeks, a peachy coral cream blush is best.
On the lips, just a brown lipliner filled and very carefully blended with some colored lipgloss in a light warm pink tone, with no glitter.

During the night, I have two or the three variations:
1.The above mentioned, except with glittery products and black mascara.
2. No eyeshadow at all, only black kohl eyepencil liner (very fine lines) plus black mascara. The lips and cheeks as during the day, only with some glitter.
3. Glittery vanilla eyeshadow underneath the eyebrows and on "the middle" plus khaki dark olivegreen eyeshadow on the eyelids. Burgundy eyeshadow with a pecilbrush as eyeliner on the top eyelid, and the same khaki eyeshadow with a pencilbrush on the underneathline. Plus everything else as during the day but with glitter.

I only use face powder. Since I have more dry skin, I prefer loose-powder. Avoid the rose and pink undertones. Choose instead a more yellowish undertone. The same rule goes for make up fluid, if you want to use it. And the same for concealer, except concealer should be one shade lighter than your skin color. Cannot tell you exactly wich colors to buy, your have to try out yourself until you find the one that matches your own color perfectly. Do not try to neither lighten up your own color nor to tan it with fluid or powder, it looks terrible. And if you use a pink undertone it also looks bad, so compare as much as you can to try to fin yellowish undertones before you decide to try them own.
Brands I recommend are: Revlon, Urban Decay, The Body Shop...

Sometimes it depends on the quality of the makeup you are using. For instance, I had previously been using a relatively cheaper makeup brand and my makeup would either run or fade like yours, so I invested a bit more money into another brand and I have noticed it stays on better. That might just be my experience, but hope this helps! (PS - I am in no way trying to call you cheap or anything... just thought I would attempt to clarify!!!)

light colored eyeshadow like lavender, gold or pink looks good with brown eyes and wear a bold color with the lips to make them more noticeable... like bright pink lipgloss.

one of the other people said something about a consult which is a good idea, however make sure its free because sometimes there is a purchase requirement. One time I went it was required that i buy 3 items.

ok i have brown eyes to and for the eyeshadow i use light white or dark brown colors try using very light colors that matches your skin tone.
And for the eyeliner get a black or a brown kind of eyeliner and put the eyeliner on the bottem of your lower eyelashes. And get the water prof maybelline mascara it is the best kind of mascara and put the mascara on the top of your eyelashes. And if you like lip stick than het the lip stick that matches your skin tone or you can go for a red kind of lip stick. And if you like lip gloss than get the shiny kind or you can get lip smackers that kind of lip gloss smells so good. And i hoped i helped you a little or a lot.

go to macy's, bloomingdales, or nordstroms.. and ask for a makeup consult at one of the makeup counters (I would suggest benefit, clinique... they are younger lines). They are trained to help you coordinate the colors with your skintone and eye color.. as well as how much/how little makeup you would like to wear everyday. Of course, their job is to try and sell you things... so they will try to pressure you, but you DO NOT have to buy anything. It should be free for them to do a consult and show you how to apply the makeup. It is polite to buy something from them, as they work on commission often, but you do not HAVE to buy something.

you sound beautiful without it but if you really want to just trial and error. practice with different shades until you find a look you feel most comfortable with.
