i read someweres recently more then likly a friends gaming magazine that the showdown right now is wii and the ps3.

the article broke down like this. ps3 is a iffy bet on how long it will continue to do well. if blueray technology falls through(which it may do simply because of all the bugs ascoiated with the technology) then the ps3 may very well disapear. the xbox 360 got off to a poor sales start but seems to be hanging on. admitedly they still have one round left in their ammo belt. the highly anticipated Halo 3. which could make the 360 a powerhouse

now a relative newcomer is the Wii. boasting unique desifn and a very impressive game line up. it will either dominate or fall quickly.

byut hey what do you all think?

please not ps3 for life cuz 360 is gay stuff.

Of course the PS3 is far more technically superior. The problem is it doesnt have any kinda game right now that can exploit this hidden power of the PS3. After some time when the big games developers learn to harness this hidden power, then its going to be a very good bet!!!

Well, the XBox is quickly right behind the PS3 on the technical level. But it has good games right now, and they've already got abt an year head-start over Sony, so I wont be surprised if it is at the top of the charts for some time.

Well, the Wii, its far more technically unsuperior, but the technology that it does carry is far more innovative stuff, so it should also move to the top spots.

I dont personally think Blu-Ray is gonna fail so easily. The PS2 is what introduced and made famous the DVD format, for God's sake.. Sony's been a long time in this business, and they oughta know...

However I suspect PS3 to be in the last spots until it gets some good game that shows its true power.

I think that the showdown is going to be between the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3. The Wii is simply out of its league. While its design is relatively unique, I feel that it the initial fun will wear off. The graphics aren't upgraded much from the Gamecube - it's not even HD! The thing I think that the Wii has in its favor is the Virtual Console idea. Nintendo owns the rights to most of the older, classic franchises (Mario Brothers, Donkey Kong, etc.), and they're not giving those to Sony or Microsoft. I have been saying for years that Nintendo should make a console that is backwards compatible all the way back to the NES or even to the Atari. But now that it's arrived, I think that it will not fare well against all of the hi-def gaming experience that the 360 and PS3 have to offer.

Between the PS3 and 360, I think the 360 will come out on top. Graphics-wise, I believe that both are capable of pretty similar graphics - most wouldn't be able to tell the difference if they didn't see them side-by-side. Microsoft has recently fought for its market share, extending their manufacturer's warranty to 1 year, continuing working on backwards-compatibility, and issuing upgrades that will allow the 360 to output a 1080p signal. Once Halo 3 is released and when (if ever) Microsoft releases an HDMI connector and upgradeable built-in HD-DVD player, I think the 360 will win.

The PS3 is so popular right now because of all the hype. In a few months, a PS3 will not be hard to find at all. Sony has backed themselves into a corner with this console. First of all, it is WAY overpriced. You can buy an Xbox 360 (although a stripped down verstion) for $300. The cheapest PS3 is $500. While it offers more features than the cheaper 360, the modest pricetag will be a HUGE winning point for the 360. Many people don't need the HD-DVD player, internet connectivity, wireless controllers, etc. The general public will be more inclined to purchase a less expensive console if it's comparable in graphics quality. Blu-Ray technology, while extremely useful in data storage, has recently been seemingly losing the format war. HD-DVD already has the running start with the DVD name. Add to that the fact that consumers will not have to buy a whole new DVD collection - all regular DVD's are compatible in HD-DVD players. In the end, I feel that HD-DVD will win out, which will be the ultimate blow to Sony and leaving Microsoft and it's Xbox 360 the victor of this generation.

Just to correct some misleading info:

1. You do NOT need to buy all new Blu-ray movies just because you have a PS3 or a Blu-ray player. The PS3 and Blu-ray player can play CD, DVD, and Blu-ray disks.

2. When comparing graphics, most people are comparing 2nd generation 360 graphics vs. 1st generation PS3 launch graphics. We all know that launch game graphics sucks because they were rushed out the door just so it can sell. Games like Dark Kingdom, Genji: Tales of the Blade are not next gen graphics. They're PS2 graphics, but those developers figure they can sell a few more copies if it's a PS3 game and it's available on launch day.

3. It's stupid to compare prices between the 2 systems because Sony is forcing gamers to use Blu-ray disks, while 360 is forcing gamers to use DVD-9. DVD-9 is last gen, so of course, it's going to be cheaper, while Blu-ray is new, so it's more expensive. If MS had forced gamers to use HD-DVD, the 360 would have been in the same price range as the PS3, but it still won't have as many things as the PS3, such as Wi-Fi capabilities.

---------------------------------------------------------

Now to answer your question:

I agree that the Wii could be a gimmick. Are developers going to find new and fun ways to use the Wii-mote or will they just follow the same pattern. It's up to their imaginations.

I think it's going to be tough for the 360 to win if it can't get the support of Japanese developers or Japanese gamers. Without the Japanese gamer support, MS is losing a lot of gamers.

It's hard to judge the PS3 because of the Blu-ray wild card. I think it could be great for gamers because it can store a lot of info, but are developers going to embrace the Blu-ray because now they have to make the game worlds bigger and more realistic, smarter A.I., etc, which means they'll have to spend a lot more money, and making a game is already expensive to begin with.

In the end, I think the PS3 is going to win because it's got a huge fan base with the PS2, and it's got more exclusive 3rd party franchises than the other systems.

PS3, it can do everything the Wii can do and more. It even has motion sensors, like the Wii (it is the main controls for the game Warhwk) Theres also Blu-ray disc drive, which normally costs $1,000, thats whyy it costs so much. With memory stick slots on the PS3 makes it easier to transfer videos music & photos onto its 20GB or 60GB hard drive. It also can play PS2 and PS One games, and dvds. The wii cant even play dvds! It has you can also go on the internet and it even has its own instant messeging program, and the wii doesn't. If you have a PSP your able to hook that up to the PS3 and tranfer files from your PSP to the PS3. You will also be able to use it in more many different things in games (like as the controller and rear view mirror in Formula 1). Plus theres games like Resistance Fall of Man, Madden, and Warhawk (which uses the motion sensors). If there are and glitches or problems i'm sure you will be able to fix them with the system updates, just like the PSP has. It may cost more but that's only cuz you are gettin more and at a better quality.

Think of in this way

Ps3 and Xbox 360 = Next Gen

Wii = New Gen

The Wii is the beginning of true at home virtual reality. While Graphicly its not as good, The innovation that it brings and simplicity it has makes it far beyond what ps3 or 360 can do or handle.

i personally own the ps3, and i love this system, im gonna be buying a wii once their in stock in my city, but as for the 360 i have never played one so i cant speak on it,, but the ps3 was well worth the price. and all games so far are on blueray, not standard dvd's so i dont see blue-ray failing anytime soon. everyone should get a ps3, a wii, and instead of a 360 get a computer, cuz my computer graphics are way sicker then any of these systems

Graphics : PS3

Gameplay : Wii

Internet : PS3

Games : Xbox 360

My Pick Is PS3 , If u want Hard core Gaming , Wii if u want be more " interactive " or Physical , Xbox 360 is nothin without Halo so thats last out of the trio .

I like the 360 because it doesnt take up alot of space and the graphics are equal to the ps3 which is way pricey.
