This year, Yao has definitely proven that he is an excellent basketball player. He is not nearly as awkward as he used to be. He is up in scoring, blocks, free throw percentage... The only thing he can't do is shoot 3-pointers, and he's working on that. Too bad he fractured his tibia tonight. That's really bad for the Rockets but good for the other teams.

He's averaging about 25 and 10 a game this season which would make him the best center in the league today without a doubt. He's got the total package at this point and has proven that he can hold his own and in most cases outdo the elite players of the league. It's a shame he got hurt because without T-Mac he was doing a hell of a job keeping the scrubs, errrrr the Rockets competitive.

Yes but he is just a big freak, can't dribble and when he is playing with a thicker person he is nearly as ineffective as the coach on the bench to score.
Has made great strides forward in the last two years but he needs a more complete game, I seen him throw down a couple baby skies the other night and man that look almost Loual Cinder-ist oh OK that is a bit of a stretch.

His height changes how skilled he is-and now how fast he can run. He is so slow footed and falls so easily and has such a delicate and fragile body that I disagree with anyone who thinks he will be a top center. Statistically, there's a possibility, but after you watch a game he's played, you'll notice that he needs to improve his quickness. Besides that, he's been making fade-away midrange shots lately which is key to his game. He can play decent defense, I mean 2.2 blocks isn't bad, but he should work on steals. His 9.4 rebounds aren't bad either. But just recently he has gotten injured and he will be out for 6 weeks.

He's proved this year he's not soft. When I've watched him he's shown an aggressiveness and ability to hold his own against tougher defenders he didn't have before. Plus, he got smooth moves around the basket and a soft touch (excellent FT shooter for a center). He's also consistently improved in his rebounding and is blocking a lot of shots this year. I'd say he's proven he's an elite, arguably THE elite center this year.

if he can improve like hakeem olajuwon, he will be great! but for now he's trying to be within the game of nba basketball. anyway now on his second year as a pro-basketball, he's been achieving double-doubles and is the second highest scoring player for houston. and that should be a lot coming off from the big man from China.
have you watched yao vs o'neal, the first time they played with each other? damn! i thought shaq would be overpowered.

This guy has come a long way in his career as a basketball player. Before this guy had people half his size guarding him and he wouldn't get a shot off. Now, hes scared of nothing and nobody I'd say he's come along pretty well.

Last time I checked, Yao Ming was playing basketball, not water polo. Things could have changed, though. I'm not sure.
