Few things in life are really necessary. But for me, marriage has long lasting advantages like companionship and someone to grow old with.

YES, if you are to show COMMITMENT. Just because someone says "I Love You" and "I want to spend my life with you" does not show COMMITMENT. Without marriage and the COMMITMENT it shows what does that teach the younger generation?
And, yes, I know 50% of marriages end in divorce or that marriage causes 100% of divorces.
A lot of that is because it is to easy to just walk away than try to make something work. Nobody said marriage is a bed of roses and was easy.

I wonder about marriage too, it seems an aritificial arrangement, and isn't it actually possessing another human like a prisoner or being like a prisoner ? I don't like the anti-social effect of marriage when married people ignore people and not allowed to socialize at all or help other people

I believe it is necessary.
First Married people Live Longer than single people irregardless to those happy & healthy singles.
Married people by and large have more, enjoy more, and have more of what it takes to deal with the ups and especially downs of life.
It is not a growing old together thing for who knows when their number may be up,it is whether you believe in genesis or not something that simply makes perfect sense, one without the other is not whole. We compliment each,we are eachothers helpmate.
Not to have each other, especially in marriage is to me damnation.

I believe that it is necessary. It reflects the ultimate committment and love for one another under God. In addition, Husband and Wife titles should be worn proud. This country (USA) is designed to provide benefits to married couples vs. unmarried couples, as well as separate benefits available, such as prenups, etc. In all honesty, I am leary of someone's fear of marriage.
