I am an aspiring model, and I know that I first need to set up something to present to an agency. I've heard of comp cards and portfolios, but what is the exact definition of each? What do I need to put them together? What do I use? Can anyone show me an example of (either) one?

Do not get these before you get an agency. Anything that you do on your own will not help you get an agency. Also, once you are signed, the agency will make you redo these their way.

To get an agency, you need regular snapshots (from a digital camera is fine) and a friendly personality at the open call. That's it. No posing, no make up, no fancy clothes.

What are the definitions of the terms?

Portfolio - usually a leather bound book of your photos. 8 x 10 or larger is the standard size for the photos. These should be from actual jobs where you got paid, not photoshoots you paid for. It's like a model's resume.

Comp Card - A model's business card. One side has your best photos. The other has your stats and agency's name.
