Your answer is 110% correct. I've worked in NC and KY. NC people are forward-thinking and independent, yet great at team leadership. Kentucky does not want to give up its 1961 Mayberry image and culture. (Yes, I know Mayberry was set in NC, but its only fictional...)
On a side note--as another answerer said, it also has great universities such as UNC, Duke, NC State, Wake Forest, UNC Asheville, Elon, Queens, etc. What does Kentucky have? Well, Centre is a good school, but that's about it.

I live in North Carolina and I've never stayed in Kentucky I've only been through it. So my vote goes to neither.
-Full of hard-working and motivated yet friendly folks
Whew I'd like to know where you visited/live? I can't say anything about hard working because that depends on the person. However a lot of people out here work realllly slow. Just in case anyone ever wondered, there is no such thing as fast food. At a drive up, many times, I have waited for half an hour or better.
As for friendly, I always thought the south was friendly till I moved here. I've lived here 8 almost 9 years and I've never met so many rude people. I'd rather hang out with rattle snakes then some of the people down here.
-Full of hot women with hot accents
There are hot girls everywhere. I'm now thinking you must visit/live in a college town or a popular spring break area. Might I suggest attending a NASCAR race in order to get a good glimps at all that NC offers? Or better yet a real dirt track race. That's some real NC women I tell ya.
You will find clannish folks all over the south. NC has many and at one point I lived near a guy who was in the KKK, yikes.
Also every state has parts that are beautiful. NC is very beauitful. However I laugh at their "mountains". I'm orginally from Colorado hehe. Their "mountains" are like foot hills to me ;o)

Although I think NC Is great. as a native Ky. i have to say that what you are saying about us being impolite is way off. You obviously have never lived anywhere else. Trust me there are rude people everywhere, in every state. As far as our accents I get compliments all the time about mine. As far as eastern Ky goes... They are alittle unique .. but really interesting. I live in Central Ky right outside of Lexington in a VERY rich little town full of horse farm after horse farm and I have found that the people here are generous and caring and I would recommend anyone who is looking to move or come visit to come to Versailles. Sorry if you ran across some assholes while visiting Ky. Have a Great Holiday. and I hope you will give Ky another chance.

Just in my in MHO I think NC is the way to go. My husband is getting out of the military (most recently he has been station in Jacksonville, FL) and we both fell in love with Raliegh. It has country surroundings, but also a multitude of shopping, culture, and the like (and by culture, I mean that it has authentic Chinese, Korean, Greek, Italian, and Jewish [I am not Jewish, but I am partial to their delis, as I think they have superior produce/meats/products]); it has a couple Whole Foods Markets as well, also boasts many Universities... NC State, Duke, UNC Chapel Hill....I am sorry, this answer is biased, but I have been to both places, and I cannot say enough good things about Raleigh,NC, I am just in love with the city feel and the southern hospatality. But please, do what feels right to you!
