What attracts people to this awful music. Talking about "hustling" and making assulting comments about a girls behind with repetitive backround music is what it all is. I think its time for a new direction for the music industry.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i have been asking this for a while now. it seems the dumber it is, the more popular it is. rap has to be the dumbest form of "music" in production. it has no value and it takes absolutely NO TALENT WHATSOEVER to create. my dogs can rap just as good as they can

Once rap started making record sales, the music, fashion, and television industries went into a marketing blitz that not only pushed the music(?) but ended up turning the whole rap scene into a cultural fad. As long as the money is being made, the product will prevail. It will eventually burn itself out as the next generationals begin to find their niche and the industries find the next fad to exploit. Let's just hope the next one contains some hint of intelligence and they can at least keep their pants up!

no music is always evolving regarding how people are feeling and what is going on in the world. I hope country would be next but it would most likely be jazz and swing as we come out of this recession. It's not about race, it's about what is going on in your near by towns. It is also mostly popular in this region because if you travel to the south, you would here less r&b and more country. This side of the world is fast tracked so you hear a lot of fast track hip hop and R&b.

I don't think rap it dominating the music industry. Anyways not all the songs are bad some say things that are real and some talk to teens. I like this music and just like you we all have our taste of music.

I don't understand how something that is basically spoken word with a the same beat behind every "song" is the most popular genre of music today. All the rappers are doing with their music is building stereotypes and making impressionable young kids think that using racial slurs, profanity, drinking and drug use, and womanizing are okay. One could say that there are stereotypes for all genres of music (i.e. "rednecks" and "inbreds" = country music; "preps" and "homos" = pop, techno, and house music; "druggies" and "Satanists" = hard rock and metal), but rap and hip hop is the only genre that most all of the "artists" are proving their stereotype right.

It's very simple. It's the rebellion
music for the disenfranchised.
Young people, no matter the color,
who feel left out or want to prove
they're different. No big thing.
Different time, different music.

all u got no good taste. Rap is just a way of expressing ur feelings without actually sayin it straight forward and boringlike and at the same time makin it sound good enough to actually call it entertainment not just talk, talk, talk. Now that'd be boring.

No thats the other kind of rap.
Its not just hustling and stuff.
Rap also tells stories and tunes em out.
I love rap, underground hip hop, and R&B.
Because I actually listen to what they're saying not just the tune to it. Ive heard so many rap that tells their self stories and what they're wishing to acomplish or admire.
Its not just girls or ballin money.
Its in many ways which comes out into a big industry.

Rap is definitely crap. Now for the best in all genres (hip hop, rock, punk, alternative) it has to be The Beastie Boys!
