Did you just start the BC? If so, you need to get through a whole pack first. The pill's hormone mix may not be right for you. You may need to talk to your doc.

OR: You may have thrown up (or had diahrrea!) and the pill wasn't absorbed, or you may have taken the pill with other medication that caused it to not be absorbed well (such as fiber supplements or antibiotics).

I was on the same pill for many years, and had the same problem. The BC just wasn't strong enough for me anymore. See you doctor - you'll probably need to be put on something stronger.

Depends on what kind of birth control you're on. I don't know of any pills that keep you from having a period. Depo Provera keeps you from getting one but those are shots. You should ask your gyno about it, he/she will be able to answer all your questions and concerns.

Are you SURE that it's your period and not heavy spotting? If you're just starting you pills (within the first three months) then spotting is nomral. It can happen when you miss a pill too. I wouldn't worry about it.

I'm not sure the reason but I used to get that every 6 months or so, then it would stop after my period.

It sounds like breakthrough bleeding, not your period.

Go see your Gyn about this since it's unusual.
