My parents are dead and I'm currently unattached, so I would just wave back at anyone and yell, "So, how's the water?" =O
BTW Women have an extra layer of fat tissue, so they could survive the temperature of the waters better than a man, and have an easier time staying afloat. Therefore it would make more sense to save the man first.

Normally one saves the most helpless first, ie. women and children to the lifeboats. Although a difficult thing to quantify, IMHO, one should save the person whose death would affect the most. If the wife or husband had young children, one should save them for the sake of the children who can not care for themselves. Many of our laws and traditions are based on the survival of the species and the preservation and protection of the weakest members of society. However, yet another rule of the sea prevails here. You save the nearest, and then the next and so on. You do not pass a victim to save another.

i would save my mom or dad first because they gave me life, so why shouldn't i save them? i mean yeah i would love my husband, but i love my parents the most no matter what. they're always there for me, they provide food, shelter and clothing for me, the least i can do is save them. plus i could possibly save my husband too.

well in my case if they was waving from the sea they would drown because i can't swim. but i would try my best to get them some kind of help.that is a hard question to answer because you love all of them and you don't wont none of them to die. very good question
