Vellore is a small town near Katpadi about 130 kms from Chennai the capital city of Tamil Nadu.
Katpadi is just 2-2.5 hrs by train from Chennai.

Katpadi is the nearest Rail station Vellore is about 10 to 15 minutes drive from station. You can take Lalbagh express 3.45pm, bangalore express @ 1..pm both the train takes roughly 2 hrs to reach katpadi junction or check www.southernrailway.org

Preferred is point to point buses from vellore to chennai which are quiet comfortable because of road conditions too. If going by train, you may not get any seating unless u are lucky. Road condition is very good as it is part of national highway. Train should take you around 2.5 hrs which bus will take u around 3 hours
