In most parts of the country, yes.
I raised 4 kids on $15,000 a year ... wasn't easy, but we managed.
So you should be able to live a fairly decent middle class lifestyle on $100k if you are wise and don't go into too much debt.

could be, if only one parent is pulling in that salary, then the other should get a part time job, (college money/ savings)

Growing up my parents raised 3 kids. My dad's a doc. (6/7 figure income) mom's a teacher (small income) but they were smart and used cupons and had very reliable cars and not suvs, or high class cars.

Just be smart with your money. My parents just gave me $3,000 for x-mas. And a bank account for college (that will keep growing) that's at $15,000 now. But it will be about $30,000 when I use it

it's always nice to be able to give your kids nice things and have a nice house. but make sure your kids know the value of a dollar. (don't think just because I got $3,000 for x-mas that my parents give me hand outs. I have to earn it, and I NEVER expect money from them) I think the reason I got that much (which is huge!) is because I'm deploying soon and they want to make sure I have no debt when I leave to go to the desert.

Depends on where you live. In some areas of the US that's luxury living by any standards. In other areas, $100,000 will take care of basic needs, and hopefully provide for college money to a state school for the kids.

Regardless its way about the national average. I live in a very expensive area, and have never had a household income above ~$70,000/annum... but I do pretty well - no kids though.

I would say definitely. We did it on a lot less. We are both retired from the armed forces, we both have a pension and we both have full time jobs. Our total yearly bring home money is a lot less than $100,000.00. We make do. I suppose I could tell you to budget and do without the toys, the new car, the big screen etc... and I suppose you are old enough to know that. Don't overspend and don't live above your means, don't try to impress others, it will only get you in trouble. Good luck!

THat is a good question, but in order to provide you with a more accurate answer there are many variables that could change the answer for you.

One of things to consider is what part of the country you live in and how you plan on living, for example are you wanting a babysitter, or daycare or nanny? Etc.

I live in middle America and not in the most expensive of places. And $100 K would be very comfortable for us. I think you could live in a $200K home with two nice cars with that kind of money. Again all this is contingent on you living in Middle America.

Good luck!

Thats plenty to raise a family on. There are plenty of people that do it on a lot less and have no real serious problems. So $100,000 dollars is enough for me, anyway. Good luck

wish you well
wish I made as much.

That would depend on the individual. Are you self sufficient? Are you capable of doing most home repairs, auto repairs, have common sense and discipline regarding money. Don't have to have the latest frivolous hi tech gadget's, then you could live on a lot less than that.

Yes! Well, maybe not for Bill Gates, but for the American family, I should think it will take care of the basic necessities and quite a few luxuries as well. I can't help but wonder why you are asking such a goofy question.
