Starbuck and Queequeg were both characters in Moby Dick, by Herman Melville.

According to Wikipedia, "In the television show, The X-Files, Dana Scully's family has a liking for Moby Dick; she names her dog 'Queequeg'. Ironically it is eaten by a sea-monster during Season 3 after it investigates a noise. Despite Scully calling Queequeg back over and over the dog is obsessed with finding out what the noise was. Scully also used the nickname 'Ahab' for her father and he, in return, called her 'Starbuck'."

Both Starbuck and Quequag came from the novel MOBY DICK. The dog was eaten/killed by a sea monster (or alligator - depending on weather you believe a sea monster - like the Lock Ness Monster could live in a big lake).

Both are Moby Dick references. Starbuck was the first mate of the ship. Queequeg was a harpooner.
