Depends on the company, product and their extent of market penetration.

Take Microsoft: you can get around $100K plus incentives, bonuses, stock options.

Take an airline co. - competition is severe. If you come up with innovative plans, you will be rewarded. Start at $40K plus reward incentives, overrides, product promo bonuses, perks etc..

A public co. always has its eye on their stock holders. Are you going to help their bottom line, in a responsible way?

Just saying 5 years' experience does not mean anything. Is it all in one co? Multi? varied exposure? Good track record? references? who do you know in your industry? What are you bringing to the table? IOW, what industry musle have you gained? Are you a rolling stone with no moss?

Say which industry and who are targeting. Then I can answer you better.

Salary in Marketing is dependent on the threat perception to the competition. The More successful you are in breaking-in into the competitor's stronghold the more is your value.

In the last 5 years if you have made a name for yourself - ask the salary you would dream of.
