There never was a turn or tide. We were so outnumbered that if we had won every battle eventually we would have ran out of men. Our only chance would have been to fight a defensive battle/ war then eventually the Yankees would have tired and allowed us to peacefully withdraw.
God Bless You and Our Southern People.

The north had a greater population base on which to draw soldiers from, and had a greater industrial base. It also had a more extensive railroad system, and had gained control of vital waterways.
The south at the time was mainly an agrarian society. It didn't have as much of an industrial base, nor did it have as extensive a railroad network as the north did. It also lost control of vital waterways, such as the Mississippi River.
Also, the south did not have much success on the diplomatic front. A strong diplomatic effort by northern diplomats kept most of the European nations from formally recognizing the south as an independent nation.

i dotn really think you can ever say the tide turned other then teh confederacy nto folowoing up thier victorya t first manassas. that really was the high poitn but considering teh unions superior force in manufactruing and the fact that the union always had int eh field at least 50% more troops then teh south and at times 3x as many it was almsot a forgone conclussion that the N would win but of course it ditn seem that way at the time

it strated when the countries helping the south decided that when they were done there they would try to invade Russia. Russia however had a different idea. when they found this out Russia sent war ships over to the U.S in strategic places and told the other countries that they were willing to sink any ship from the wrong country.
