She was born with 2 teeth, and now at least 2 more are trying to come in. The only time she is somewhat satisfied is when she is nursing or has her passifier, but that doesnt always work...

.A great way to comfort a teething baby is to rub the gums firmly and gently with a clean finger. The first few passes are sometimes a bit uncomfortable, but babies get more and more relaxed as the massage continues.

Providing cool things to chew on is another effective way to treat teething. Wet washcloths or terrycloth toys fresh from the fridge or freezer have been the most popular with babies and toddlers in my practice. Some are delighted with smooth, hard objects, like the handle of a hairbrush. I've not met many babies, though, who prefer soft plastic teething rings. Whatever you select, be careful that the object is not something your daughter might choke on.

Benzocaine teething gels are a mixed blessing. They do reduce pain, but they can also leave a baby’s mouth feeling as if she has just been to the dentist. Some babies object to the swollen, numb sensation as much as they do to the pain. Either way, the effect of these gels is very short-lived. And they do carry a small risk of allergic reactions and decreased

There are some teething tablets you can get at wal-mart or walgrens...they are homeopathic(not sure that's right) little white dissolving tablets. They are great. When my kids would hear the bottle rattle they would open their mouth and wait for them!

The other thing we did was to massage their gums with our clean, newly washed finger. As for whiskey...I would not recommend that! Vanilla you would use for cooking has the same numbing affect.

6 weeks old is really young to be teething! Wow!

It is highly unlikely that the baby is teething at 6wks of age. However, it is not impossible either. Regarding giving gels for teething, I wouldn't subject that little infant to anything toxic from the outside world. Especially, if the baby has been colicky for the past 2wks. Could you check the white spot again and see if it rubs off? Are there any other white spots in the mouth? Roof of mouth? If so, see the doctor. Maybe that is the reason for the colick. FYI, you can call the babies doctors office and ask questions. They will usually answer them for you without being seen.

You should put teething medicane on her gums where the teeth are trying to come in and soothe her so she won't be in sooo much pain. You can also use a teething ring if you have one to let her suck on it so the pain won't be soo bad.

Good luck and hoped I helped. :)

Happy Holidays!!

I bought these teething tablets called Hyland's teething tablets. There great, they instantly dissolve in a baby's mouth. I gave these to my baby any time he was teething and they worked miracles!
You can buy them most anywhere, I got mine from wal-mart and I know they also sell them at walgreens.
Teething toys are also great. Good Luck to you, you'll get through it!

Have you tried Baby Orajel? Works a little for my son. I also give him a little tiny bit of Infant Tylenol (around 0.2mL), but he's 5 months old. Ask your doctor what they recommend before giving Infant Tylenol since your baby is younger than mine.

Wow, that must be a lot to deal with! Don't put teething rings in the freezer, though. They say to put them in the fridge only. Good luck!
