Both states are nice and have much to offer.

I'd choose North Carolina, though. The Blue Ridge is incredible, the central part near Raleigh is beautiful in its own way (much like middle parts of Tennessee and Georgia,) and the Outer Banks are phenomenal.

While SC has a great boom taking place upstate, the middle part of the state has little activity, and the tourist areas (beaches) are overcrowded and overcommercialized.

NORTH CAROLINA!!! I have lived in NC all my life. I was born in the mountains and raised in the mountains. It is one of the most versatile states. The mountains here are very old, and mostly tree covered, and oh so beautiful. Our valleys are green and there is a stream in almost every one. We have a lot to offer any one. The Biltmore Estate, Asheboro Zoo, Linville Caverns, The Blue Ridge Parkway, Outer Banks, Cape Hatteras Light House, Gem mines, Hiking, Whitewater, Native Cherokee, Harrah's Casino/Hotel, Trout fishing, Bridge to bridge bike challenge, and on and on...
NC also has a wide range of career ops. From munufacturing to scientific research, and everything in between. Call us hillbillies if you want, just don't call us late for supper.

North Carolina to live but South Carolina to visit. I have lived in NC...it's a pretty nice state. Lots of jobs but they are still working on the night life thing if that interests you. It's really getting HUGE there.
Raleigh area is all I know.

I like South Carolina better. I have family in both states. I don`t know why, but to me it just seems like everyone in NC is old [probably because I only know the old people who live there]. But every time I go to SC, it seems like there`s always a party and something fun to do.

NC because I have a friend who lives there, and also because I just love the mountains and I have some good memories from visiting the Cherokee Reservation as a child and learning more about my Native American ancestry

Merry Christmas!

I vote for SC. I live there. The cost of living is lower than in NC. It's smaller and easier to get around, too.

Can I stand on the border with one foot in each state?

It's hard to choose. I think I like NC better, but I can't say why. Maybe it is the mountains.
