My wife is a mathematics teacher at our local high school. She teaches Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II. In addition to teaching high schoolers, she and I sometimes have "class" together at home where she teaches me some of the concepts of high school math; I've always had a fascination with algebra and wanted to catch up on it. We try to make it into a classroom setting, where she occasionally tests me and assigns me homework - the one downside of your wife teaching you :)

I want to know if any other teachers out there also teach their spouse at home. In my opinion, I like being taught and I'm learning a lot about algebra that they never taught when I was in school.

I taught the Mrs. math and even though she had a tough time trying to pass the class so she could get an AA degree, she succeeded. It helped us grow together and I felt proud about helping her more than any child I taught.
How ever, it should be noted that you do not have to be an official school teacher to be able to teach your wife.

You are learning more because you have a crush on the teacher and you are teachers pet this time around. Teachers teach and its really hard to turn it off at home, especially if a spouse asks.

That is so awesome! I also love to learn...that is why I am becoming a teacher. I am..well..will be a Spanish teacher. My husband is Mexican and when he spells something wrong, misses an accent when writing, etc. I am sure to tell him about it. He hates it so much because he says "What do you know gringo trying to teach a Mexican to speak Spanish" It is so funny. It is nothing formal...but I do give him some mini lessons when I hear or see something wrong.

Someone who has served time as a pedophile should not be able to get a job as a teacher, or as a babysitter.

we are all taught by our spouses... doesn't MATTER if they are OFFICIAL teachers by day.

What's the point of NOT sharing info / knowledge - even WISDOM with your spouse... kinda silly - don't you think?
