White gold, yellow gold and other golds such as Black Hills gold are all a percentage of pure gold as a ratio equal to 24 carat being 100% gold, and 18 carat being 75%, 12 carat 50%.
10 carat gold is the US minimum to use the label 'gold'.

The percent difference from 100% is non gold, with 24 carat being pure gold-0% other metals, 18 carat having 25% other metals.

Some cultures will periodically make an attempt to popularize different carats and different types of gold over others. This popularity and scarcity can cause an increase in price.

The carat of the gold is the most significant factor in price. If the white gold is labeled 'White Platinum gold', 'palladium white gold' or 'precise white gold', these may be a LITTLE higher than yellow gold.

Otherwise, the same carat prices, white and yellow, are quite similar; with amount of workmanship, local popularity, or the retail dealer overhead having more pricing impact than the difference between white and yellow gold.

Little known fact, white gold is not gold. That is why there is no periodic table entry for white gold. It's an industry hoax. Ask yourself this, how many times have I heard of white gold trading on the stock exchange? When they list commodity prices, why isn't white gold on them, when gold is?
