I really want to go to Columbia for college, I've checked out their website and stuff like that, but I was wondering if anybody here had actually gone to school there, and what you thought of it, and how hard you worked in high school to get in. Thanks!

I just transferred to Columbia last semester. I'm very happy with my experience thus far. The professors that I've had have been great and even University Writing wasn't as painful as I'd heard it would be (I got an A without doing much).

I was home schooled, so I can't really say much about high school but at my former college I had a 3.98 GPA but only one extra curricular activity. I think you should focus most on you application essay, really show your personality. Columbia is looking to add interesting people to their student body, so try to make yourself stand out from every other high school kid who applies.

I actually attend CU. I love it. I don't know if you've come to visit campus, but you should definitely do so and try to stay overnight if you can to see what students are really like. I think it's safe to say that NYC is one of the best places to be but CU also has a pretty active campus community, so there is plenty to do on and off campus. There will be things that you hate, but that's everywhere. As for how hard I worked in high school: really hard. Columbia accepts many different types of students. It is not necessary to have a 4.2 and a 1600, but it would be good to make sure you are taking upper level classes and that you are involved in activities outside of just doing your homework. If you want to know more, let me know.

Columbia is awesome. Very difficult but when you graduate it will mean something. Also tuition is expensive but you can't beat NYC. You have to work very very hard to get into Columbia and do a lot of extra curriculars. If anyone in your family went there it is a plus.
