I own a 98 Taurus, I recently changed the thermostat on it and a couple of hoses but lately it has been acting up. It will completely turn off when it warms up usually when I come to a complete stop. and wont turn on until it cools down below normal. any advise?

You may have air in the system now! Get the air out in order for it to work properly again! Ans make sure the cooling system senor where not damaged as well!

Not likely the alarm if it's a cheap one. It won't have that feature. Make sure the fuses are good and that there isn't any other switch near where you are turning off the alarm in case someone rigged an anti theft "secret" switch to keep the car from starting. If the lights are nice and bright and the horn blows loud, you may have a bad connection at the starter or solenoid or a bad starter. If it's automatic make sure it is in park(or neutral). If it's a stick it has a switch on the clutch pedal. that may be bad or came loose.

It happens to my 94 Chevrolet Suburban, too! I took it to an auto mechanic shop and they told me that the engine needs to be repaired or replaced. The head gasket is possibly blown. Otherwise, I paid new radiators twice, replaced theromsats 3 times, new water pump, new upper and lower radiator hoses. Still have the problem! The water temp shows normal. Strange. Have you tried to take your car to a mechanic to check on it for you?

it sounds like a bad ignition control module to me. that's what they do when they go bad. carry some water in an old windshield washer jug and next time it shuts off pour the water over the module. if the car starts right up it was bad. good luck!

I do believe it is called a "Temperature Control Sensor" Do you know how to access your OBC "On Board Computer"? That car should have one of those little diagnostic boxes under the dash, somewhere close, under the steering wheen.
