If the person likes wine or liquor, there is no problem in giving it to them. Better to give them something that they like and can use them to buy any cheap non-usuable gift that they don't want.

I think it's perfectly acceptable. A friend of mine gave me a bottle of fine red wine as a gift. It was expensive, something I wouldn't have bought for myself. Good luck to you!

hell yah its ok it shows a refined taste when you hand choose something like wine for someone and for the younger cround its liquor we didnt have to buy it will be enjoyed

Eh if they enjoy it, there s nothing wrong with it. a gift is a gift.
its better then nothing.
and if they love you , they will respect you, and appreciate it.
plus, you may get more people wanting you to buy them gifts each year
