If God created the human body in His own image, how can our bodies be obscene, indecent, or evil? Are there any good, sound, logical reasons (aside from protection from the environment) why people should be required to be clothed in public? If so, what do you think they are. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

No, and this is mainly a problem in the US - other countries are comfortable with topless (and bottomless) beaches. In Europe, you have communal restrooms, communal saunas, and few hang ups about nudity. It's a disease left in the US by the Puritans. Now, women can't even breast feed in public without criticism! Yet we're happy to sell our kids extremely violent video games, and show dead bodies and shoot-outs daily on the news. It's very sad.

No to all of your questions in the main. However, people have profaned God's image to the point that they have pierced places that make me wince. They use indecent gestures with private parts. They make the body evil when they use it for forced sex or to intimidate other human beings. I believe within the privacy of your own home, and without doing harm to any creature, there is no reason to be clothed if you don't care to be.

I think that is a really good question. In the Bible it says that Adam and Eve did not even know they were naked. Untill they were told. I think it is so interesting, I know that if we were aloud to be naked in public i would certanly do it. The Human Body is a beautiful thing and should not have such an impact on society. If you think about it... people pay $$ for clothing, and alot of people would go out of business. Also ..... If you live in Canada (me) You would freeze to death in the winter time. But Having to wear no clothing in the Summer would be great! As long as you had alot of sunscreen. And In reasturants and stuff, I think it is a matter of hygene. If someone wiht a STD sits on a bench then it is going to be risky for every one else. But if you mean just having to wear underwear, I dont see a problem. I think that if we had been raised like it was a normal thing, and people were just used to it, it would work out. But trying to change a society that is based on looks and judging people , would be difficult. I dont even know if i answered you question ;-P oh well.

Merry Christmas ;-)

God made man out of the dust of the earth, and breathed a soul into him.Genesis 2:7. God is a spirit, John 4:24. Man is made in the spiritual and moral image of God. (Genesis 1:27) This is God's crowning achievement, Human Beings. However, God did come in the flesh, Jesus. 1 Timothy 3:16.

Well the ready to wear clothing business would take a HUGE dive if people decided to go naked.

And it isn't the body that is obscene, indecent or evil, it's what people think and do with that image or body that can be construed as such.

Many people associate sex with the visible sex organs (even in the unaroused state). Therefore, I think that they tend to associate the state of being disrobed with communicating sexuality- even if it's not in that context (having coffee, talking about Janet Reno)...

Because of the cultural associations of sex organs = sex, I think that not miscommunicating is a fair reason to be clothed in public.

It would take massive global warming (though not too warm, or you need clothes to keep from getting sunburnt), and another thousands of years of social change before public nudity could be socially acceptable.

Because an ugly or obese person is obscene in the eyes of most people. And if you are an attractive person you cause natural chemical reactions in the brains of other normal people that make them want to do perfectly natural things to your body. With or without your permission. The act is a natural thing right? But if you do not give permission then the act is IMMORAL and illegal. And so is running around naked in front of everyone. Not mention stupid! Rape is immoral. Sex is natural. Forced sex is rape. Do you understand the difference?

Good point. Hey, go outside tomorrow and walk around your neighborhood buck naked. When the cops haul you away for indecent exposure, explain the reasoning you used in your question to them. I'm sure they haven't had a good laugh in weeks.

I have to go with protection, sorry. Do you really think it's a
good idea to sit your naked butt down where 5000 naked
butts have sat before you?
On the other hand, I think a little clothing can be more
sexy than having nothing on at all.

I don't think the human body is any of those, the human body, no matter what sex, or how distorted it is, what color it is, is a beautiful thing. We shouldn't be ashamed of showing our bodies off with or without clothes.
