Probably, Alvin, was just excited about the hoola-hoop and was expressing his eagerness for Christmas morning. I am sure he was not seriously worried about some time/space warp phenomenon delaying his much anticipated Christmas morning celebration.

Because children (even chipmunks!) CAN'T wait another SECOND for it to be Christmas Day...!!!
(Same as the "Are we there YET?" syndrome...)

Are you sure that is true for chipmunks? They may have their own time they celebrate.

the innocence of children makes it seem like each year Christmas takes longer to arrive. Thus they don't want it to be late.

If anything, Christmas should be early if you're fast forwarding the vocals.
