After high school, you will find out that the "real" cool people turn out to be the ones who had good grades, i.e. they are the ones that go to good colleges. Focus on your grades, and surround yourself with people with similar interests, you'll find that you will exceed far beyond your "cool" friends.

ouch... That's a hard question.... Ok, well, here's what I think. Before I go on, I'm just going to tell you that, I'm in middle school (8th grade), and I'm in the running for Valedictorian for Middle school as far as I know.
Ok, so here we go, Popularity and coolness are... cool, but, you don't really need it. All popularity is in the end, is being dramatic and following trends. If you're already popular, then great, nobody should care if you start making straight A's and stuff. I mean, if it makes your uncool to be smart enough to go to college and get a very well paying job, then they can just get their job at MacDonald's or something... lol, anyway, think of your education as money that's growing in a bank account. The better educated you are, the faster your money grows. So when you go to get a job at say, some national defence agency or something, then you can send in your gigantic resume saying, idk, I went to this and that College and I earned a Phd in this and that and bla bla bla bla.... They'll almost certainly hire you and you'll make some good money... lol, quote me if you want, I know you're not going to though... If anything, people will make you popular just because you're able to help them with their homework... I won't say anything about letting them cheat off of you because that's up to you, but most people act like... ahem* if you don't give them answers to you... Anyway, just follow what you think is best!
Merry Christmas if you celebrate Christmas and Happy New Year's!!!! lol, anyway, good luck with that!

Well i would do your work and keep your personality.
Alot of the cool people here at school are pretty smart. I mean, i would rather have a best friend thats uber cool n smart then a dumb cool friend. I mean, whos going to help/do my homework?
But i would actually choose a subject first. And then as that gets easier and grades get higher pick another one. Instead of taking it all at one time because that becomes stressful n can change your personality bc you get all grumpy. lol

You can't balance both popularity and school work. I think popularity is not as important because your grades will count to a cert. Just have 2 or 3 close buddies quality is better than quantity. If you really want to, be helpful and don't appear smug. If you are helpful people will like you. Time is needed for trust to build up.

Popular? Being popular will mean nothing in the real world. As long as you have REAL friends who accept you for whoever you may be, you will always be cool in their eyes.
As for the grades, listen to the teachers, they get paid for this. ;)
Also, do your work, get motivated, and if you fall behind ask what you can do to get ahead.

Become a trend setter...you are cool, not because others say you are, but because you say you are...learn to take that mentality, and everyone will be trying to get good grades because you say it is the cool thing to do.
