Computers are scientific instruments that people now are trying to use as toys, TVs and players. It will take several years more before they become easier to use. But then they may take a different form and not have the same input devices they do now. In fact, it may be more like a TV or stereo system while the rest of us technical types use a "real computer".

Two reasons.
They are physically complex because by their nature, they are designed to perform millions of complex calculations a second and process vast amounts of information.
They are complex to USE because they are mostly designed by turbo-nerd engineers to whom most of this stuff comes easily. They tend to think linearly and very quickly compared to average normal people and they design the human/computer interface accordingly.
Most of them don't understand the concept of "less is more" and that ALL most people want is to play their music or get to a website or get a photo of their dog off their camera and post it on the Internet as fast and as easy as possible and THAT is the most important thing to them.
APPLE is one of the few companies out there that actually understands this. That is why Apple's MP3 players and music distribution service is #1 and it's why their computers are far easier to use and more reliable and secure than others.

because the people who make them are a little too "techie" and are not overwhelmed by them. That fact comes out in the computer.
Years ago, they used to be alot worse than today's computers. As time goes on, they are built more "user-friendly"
Ask any questions you have about it though and someone will answer.

It's grown in complexity as time goes by. It's necessary to do what computers do nowadays. It's only going to get more complex. Of course, it's only going to make it easier for us to use since the more complex the computer is going to be, the easier it is for us to use. It's all abstraction.
