Wow, an interesting trip !! I travel occasionally from San Carlos to Stockton using CalTrain and ACERail. That trip would get you to Manteca... Manteca is served by the Modesto Area EXpress.
Looking at the Modesto Area EXpress, it will get you within about 3 miles of Oakdale on Ca-180.

The San Carlos to Stockton Round Trip costs me $32 and takes about 3 hours each way. The trains are VERY comfortable.

Go down or call Greyhound Bus Station. Maybe they have a web-site, I don't know.
