I guess none of these people actually know the answer. Sad that they answer when they don't know the correct one. This is the correct answer:
-A goalkeeper can only touch the ball inside of his box. If he touches the ball or is holding the ball when his feet are past the goal box line it is a freekick from that spot
-The goalkeeper can leave the box and do whatever, it is not a foul. It is completely possible for a goalkeeper to get the ball and then go upfield and score using his feet, but not very probable.
I swear this is the honest to god truth, and that if any of the other posts contradict this, then they are incorrect. I just want to make sure you get the right info. Peace.

Remember that there is an imaginary plane from the edge of any line on the soccer pitch perpindicular to the ground and extending to infinity. As long as any part of the ball is touching any part of that plane, the ball is not over it. That includes a goal. Thus if a goalie traps a ball against the goal post, it cannot possibly result in a score.
The goal keeper can touch the ball with his/her hands as long as a part of the ball is in contact with the imaginary plane that makes up the penalty box provided that the ball was not passed to the goalie with the foot of one of the palyers on his/her own team.
In soccer, there is no penalty for a player being "out of bounds" . . .only the ball is called out of bounds. There is a boundary line around the penalty box in which a goal keeper is permitted to touch the ball (provided it is the goal he or she is currently defending).

That would be hand ball. Stepping outside the box, a goalie cannot touch the ball using his hands. The furthest away he can hold the ball with his hands is on the line, both hands and feet.

The goalie is not allowed to handle the ball outside of the penalty box. Otherwise, anywhere inside he is allowed so. If he is inside the goalbox, he is also allowed to handle the ball, but it would count as a goal for the opposing team.

ive never seen a goalie get a red card for handling the ball out of the box- usually it results in a free kick to the opposing team. it also depends of the referee; some really suck and some are fair. as for the red card question, you would have to ask your high school or the referee that gave the card.

it is the position of the ball that matters, the gk can have his body out of the box as long as he holds the ball in the penalty box or on the boundary of the box.

If the keepers foot is across the line, doesn't matter how much, it is a free kick from that spot. The ball does not matter where it is.

Of course! He can punch someone anywhere on the pitch. But he can't pick up the ball.
