my friend has an ipod and all the sudden it froze or something it is stuck on a white blank screen and wont turn off, does anyone know whats wrong or how to fix it without reset and losing all data.

yeah ive tried all that stuff, holding the middle button does nothing and also plugging it in does nothing, i think it froze or something....is the best bet to just take it back?

hold in the middle button and press (-----.... it should restart it

Most of the time it just gets stuck in a rut and needs to reset, the way i am going to explain to you wont loose any data whatsoever. Toggle the hold to on then off, then hold the select button (button in middle of wheel) and the play/pause button simultaneously for about five seconds, the apple logo should appear then you should get the normal menu, if this doesn't work go to apple.com and check the support tab. if you hold the menu button and the center button down for a few seconds, it will restart without data loss. you have to hold both down. not just the center button. it says it in the manual.

u gotta reset it or jsut take it to the apple or plug it into the usb drive with the cord
