I'm about to have my first, and I don't have a theme. I can't paint or put up wallpaper (I'd have to have it back to the way it is now in about a year anyway, why bother). I refuse to do a cartoon character because word of that gets out and that's all people ever get, and besides, what does a newborn care?
My mom said I didn't have a theme either, unless "rummage sale" is considered a theme.

I just had my first child (girl) 6 weeks ago and we are using the Winnie The Pooh/Classic Pooh themes. I have always loved Eeyore and my husband loves Tigger, so it just worked out perfect... something that the two of us could agree on.

Winnie the pooh. My husband told me when I picked this out that it was way overused, but I didn't think so. Now that I see this, I think he may have been right.
My friend just had a baby and she went with, sun, moon & stars. It was really cool. She has this rug that is a big giant yellow star. We also painted a whole sky theme on her wall. It turned out great.

I have never done a theme for the babies but I do a theme when they move to their big girl/boy bed. They get to pick their theme and it makes them more excited about the transition.

When my son was born I wanted to do a Doctor Seuss theme but we were moving house soon after he was born so I wasn't going to decorate until after we moved. When we moved I got caught up with other things and by the time I had enough time to decorate his room he was in love with Disney Cars so we did that. He has a Lightning McQueen bed & wall borders, a clock, lamp, posters and loads of other cars things. It looks really good & he loves it.

My son is due at the end of January and his nursery was just finished last month. We live in the keys so we wanted somthing ocean to bring our baby boy as close to it as we are. We decided on the OCEANA theme by kids line. It is absoutly gorgeous and completly adorable.

My roommate has classic Pooh for a girl, and my brother has a Disney theme for a girl. For a boy I would do a jungle or sports theme....

I had my daughter in the 70s so the theme that was all the rage then was Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy. It was in a lovely shade of medium blue and white and had Raggedy Ann and Andy wallpaper border, bedspread and curtains. She also had a few Ann & Andy dolls on her dresser.
