Children learn from our actions. We can try to teach them to be better than us, but they will often ignore what we teach and learn what we do.
People are biased in their habits, without being fully aware of that bias. If a white man shakes hands with a black man, then wipes his hands, and his son sees, his son will wipe his hands too, without being fully aware of the habit.
It's not really hate. It's just biased habits. Most people, no matter how much they seem to hate others, are really just following habits they learned when young. Most of them really don't mean to be biased.
But sometimes children learn stronger hate. People tell stories of the past, and children listen and learn. If someone talks about a war, and some of the things that happened in that war, and the ethnic group of the people involved in making some bad things happen, children may get the impression that people of that ethnic group are bad people, and that they should beware of that ethnic group. That's often the start of ethnic hatred.
Some ethic hatreds have been going on for thousands of years. Two ethnic groups that live near each other might have a war between them, and bad things might happen in that war, and those bad things might make them hate each other worse, and their children might learn that hatred, and start a 2nd war, which might make the hatred even worse, and the next generation might start a 3rd war, all because of the same ethnic hatred, which might have been minor at first, but got worse with each war, even though the wars themselves were caused by the same hatred.

I think in a lot of cases people don't realize that it's what they're teaching. People don't realize that kids pick up on gestures, tones, and comments whether they're positive or negative.
I started swearing when I was 2, because my mom did all the time, not realizing that she was adding colorful words to my vocabular.

Ignorance...children aren't born hatefull, cruel, dishonest or anything else....they're taught those qualities, and the most influential teacher in there lives are their parents. When you're around a child you will know what the parents are like. If there raised with morals, ethics and honesty there up-bringing will stay with them forever. A child to be proud of
