i own a shop, and headers are a lot louder,,but that's what mufflers are for you can make headers quiet, and they will still help give you more horse power,,but they do let the exhaust out real good ,and are a lot louder if not quietened down some,if you have the right exhaust system on them they run and sound better,,good luck hope this help,s.have a good x-mas.

The difference between headers and the stock manifold is how they are made. Stock manifolds car makers put on there vehicles are not made for performance and normally add a lot of back pressure. Headers are made to let the exhaust flow with out being restricted. Trust me there is a big performance difference though they may look alike. Remember that fuel and air can only enter the motor as fast as the exhaust leaves.

Headers would probably be a little louder, but you're already running glass packs. That's pretty loud already. Headers will help your engine breath a little better and make some extra power. The right set of headers could possibly quiet it down a little, but I get the feeling that's not what you're after.

Yes, more resonance and power. you will open up the exhaust. i gained sound and about 10-15 hp. when i changed from stock to 3" headers and 2.5" inch pipes. it'll sound great. the only problem i had, is the header bolts want to loosen up every now and then. about 100 miles after install, i had to tighten and again at 250. after that, it was all good for me. by the way, i have a 1971 c-10 with a built 350

Yes Headers will be louder...I also recommend you run more than just headers into glass packs....Extend the exhaust pipes past the drivers compartment or you will get a sonic hum inside the car....Your ears will be ringing when you get out if you don't

Louder in the engine bay, yes. The cast iron manifolds supress exhaust noise somewhat. No increase of noise out of the mufflers will be noticed -- same amount of exhaust gases, just 'tuned' through same length exhaust headers.

The noise which comes out of the tail pipe is directly proportional to the muffler's capability to "muffle" the sound. The only way headers would be louder, is if they were not connected to the mufflers. Street rods use a method called "cutouts" which switch the exhaust discharge from mufflers to "strait pipes" and back. This allows them to drive the dragster to the strip instead of towing it.

with a 75 no smog is needed. headers may make it run a bit smoother. but no noticeable difference in performance.
you must be careful about over scavenging your engine, if the exhaust is removed too fast and no back pressure is at the exhaust ports the valves cool too fast an warp, crack or brake because of the quick change in temperature.

exhuast is such a strange animal. big pipes can give you top end hp but kill low end. headers should make it louder. if it is too loud switch from glass to mufflers. even header pipe diameter and lenght can have an effect on torque and hp.

YES I love the way headers make it sounds Put your glass packs as close to your headers as you can the closer the better thy sound
