Vimal, this happens in your homeland too, especially due to those arranged marriages, in which the woman thinks she doesnt have to have sex with her husband after she produces two kids. After that they begin living as if they were divorced. At least Americans are honest about why they go their separate ways.

mk_goosen said it all, it is to easy. People are lazy, when it starts getting hard they get divorced, so much easier to shirk their responsibilities. Yes, some should get divorced ex: Abuse of any kind. Drug usage, excessive alcoholism.
They think marriage is so great and all it takes is to love each other, FALSE. Marriage is NOT a bed of roses, it is HARD WORK.
But the other reason it is so high is because of LACK OF COMMITMENT.

The same reason there's a walmart on every corner, people pack in to buy things they don't need, can't afford, and will have forgotten about in a week....they're trying to fill that empty void in there soul.Everything in this country has turned to instant gratification if you're not happy then you need to make yourself happy. The news flash is you can't be happy all the time, sometimes you just got to tough it out until things get better.

because they don't take there vows seriously when they make them . it is easier to get a divorce than to live with someone and stay thro the hard times. people go into marriage blindly thinking it will be wonderful and never have any problems when the problems start its divorce time.

Becasue we don't beleive it is okay to beat the crap out of our partners, because we don't beleive we have to be miserable for our entire lives...Because we have the right to CHOOSE how we live our lives. From the above comments I would have to guess that some in the U S do believe it is okay for their spouses to beat the crap out of them or that it's okay for their spouses to totally control every aspect of life making the entire family miserable. There is more to divorce than "laziness" or "boredom"...but those who've never been through a "bad" marriage don't have a clue
