They are definetly not real. My wife has filled out some of those ads for Applebee's gift cards and other items and has not received a single thing. Those ads are run illegally by marketers trying to get as many e-mail addresses and personal information as possible to sell to large marketing companies. They are using you, don't be a sucker.

Don't do it. You can get 'free' stuff but heres the catch, they make you work for it. To get a free whatever, they will often make you perform certain tasks(visit websites, visit a local store) for each task performed you get points, you need like a bazillion points to get the free gift, you will give up doing tasks long before you get enough points and they got you to work for free.

Yes, you do get that stuff, but you get a bunch of spyware and spam on your computer. Most of the time, you get the stuff, but I wouldn't recommend it.

I suggest you download AOL Active Virus Shield, It's based on the popular Kaspersky Lab Virus Killer.
It removes viruses, spyware, trojans and as it's based on kaspersky lab it removes 100% of viruses in the wild.
There's links and also a great walkthrough with a step by step guide: http://walkthroughwizard.info/
