Nope..I was never carded when purchasing an R-rated movie, but I was when I was buying a CD with a Parental Discretion sticker on it so my dad had to come to the register with me.

Not me I have always looked older. But I completely understand why. I used to work at a movie theater and a store that sold R rated movies. The company can be held liable if the minor decided to reenact scenes moves and or repeat language. And the last thing a company wants are multi million dollar lawsuit because the let an underage kid get an R rated movie now mommy and daddy decided to call the lawyer so they all can get rich

YES!

I was 16 and I was trying to buy a horror movie at Blockbuster. The cashier asked me for ID and I was pissed because the DVD wasn't even pornographic at all. As a result, I didn't get the DVD and I didn't go to that Blockbuster ever again.

Yes and with good reason!

People under the age limit (and even some over) should not be seeing these movies for a reason; otherwise the rating wouldn't exist.

Yeah, because rated are means restricted to 17, take a student id or something so they don't give you any problems

They may ask for a valid form of identification with your picture and birthdate on it and if you're too young they may refuse to let you rent it. Some movie rental places have a strict age policy and some don't check at all.

My son was. They asked for an ID and he couldn't provide one that proved he was old enough to buy it. They wouldn't ring it up.
