If you consider release of sexual tension, reduced risk of prostate cancer, engaging in the safest form of sex there is, no risk of getting anyone pregnant and getting in touch with your own sexual responses unhealthy then I guess masturbation is.

Actually, it can be bad not to masturbate. 'Draining' the prostate gland is a normal biological function for a post-puberty male. A close friend ages ago decided he'd be a 'man' and not have a self-induced orgasm except with a partner. He wound up with an infection and advice from his doctor to masturbate more often!
