I'm on the varsity bowling team, and I'm the only freshman besides another kid. The other kid is basically my best friend on the team, and the rest of my friends always talk bad about him behind his back, saying "Oh no, ________ is here. He's so annoying, etc, etc." Same thing with another one of my friends who is a sophmore. I'm really good friends with the kids who are saying this behind his back. What do I do? I want to stick up for him and stuff, but I don't want to lose all of my other friends.

Well, think about how you'd feel if you were the one being talked about! Hopefully, your friend(s) would stick up for you. So, why not take the high road and casually tell the others that you wish they wouldn't talk that way. Then see what happens. Don't do it in an angry or confrontational way, just kind of offhand. Be the bigger person. It could change things.

You have to decide what's more important to you... Sticking up for one friend or keeping another friend? Personally I would never keep quiet and allow someone to talk **** about a friend of mine.

Don't be a follower, be a leader, tell them "Hey he's part of the team, we need to support each other", your REAL friends won't dislike you for that.
