I remember as a child over 30 yrs ago, being outside playing after school, kick ball, badminton, tag, making mud pies etc and mothers screaming at the top of their lungs all over the neighborhood that it was time to come in. What happened. I hardly every see a child riding a bike, jumping rope , just being a kid. It is very sad, and they wonder why or nation is getting fatter.

most of them are sitting there, playing around on Y!A. others are just too lazy to venture past the front porch.

Child nabbers, disappearances, and other crimes against children have risen dramatically in the past 30 years. No one knows their neighbors and the average household only has 2 children as opposed to the 4 30 years ago. Kids get to be kids only now they have DDR and other techno toys - bikes are used at specific parks and paths as are skates and such - you can still see packs of playful rouges at any Y-camp it's really a matter of protecting children from predators. It's a big scary world and parents have to take more precaution than 30 years ago to protect our children as boundaries shrink and laws to protect children are so difficult to enforce.

One of the big things is that there is about 3-4 hours of homework each night. Our family makes it a practice to be outside during school times after supper 3 nights a week and during summer every night and every weekend while its nice.

It is very sad how times have changed for the worse.

They were the good ol days. Where you would leave in the morning with your friends and not return till dinner time. Kids today can't believe we did those things.

Very very sad.

Our nation also has more perverts that take children from yards and playgrounds, even in rural communities, a heck of a lot more than when we were kids.
