It's hard to become excited over a religious holiday turned commercial, especially if you work retail, heath care, etc. Contrary to popular belief, it is OK to not feel excited. Focus less on the gifts, decorations, etc. and focus more on using this time to reconnect to your friends and family so you can recharge your emotional battery. It also helps to donate your time, resources, etc. to a favorite charity (or to find a favorite charity). They get a lot of help during the holidays, but very little during the rest of the year.

Im thinking maybe for me it does. I was so excited earlier this year about christmas, but for some reason, now Im just not.

You are not the only one. Many of my friends are not either, the commercialization of Christmas has taken away the joy and meaning. I have heard parents in the mall saying " I really don't know what to get other than and I-Pod, they have everything else, and whatever clothes I pick out they will not like" What the hell is that, how can it be fun when having to buy for ungrateful bastard brats. There I said it, its all about the presents, presents, presents and it sucks. P.S. Tina you said it all in less words!

i have to agree with you. christmas is not that exciting anymore. its WAY too commercialized. christmas always turns out to be a huge disappointment for me every year. its not just about buying the best gifts, or recieving exactly what you wanted, but everybody makes it out to be that way. its horrible. i wish every christmas could be like thanksgiving. just have a big dinner, watch a parade or game on tv, and eat till you pass out.

Thats OK, I think sometimes people go overboard. Just try to enjoy your family and friends. If you are religious enjoy that aspect. If you are not religious, then spend some time with those you love the best.

Not a problem.
I find the merchandising & crass materialism of the secularized Western Christmas to be rather distasteful myself.

Because there is nothing to do on Christmas, because almost everything fun to do is closed on that day.

Because Christmas is just another commercialized holiday. I've gotten completely bored with it too.

I'm not either after all the drama my family reunion has caused. It's not the peaches and cream I thought it would be!

I don't know why you arent, but dont take it out on kids! I went to my aunts and she hates Christmas, and it ruined it for me. I am a kid, and its the best holiday!
