My daughter is not spoiled she has saved nearly $4000 of her own money. We need to find a horse over 16.2 hh because my daughter is very tall. Most are 12 to 25k a bit over our budget.

I was the same way. So i bought the 1st horse i came upon. A 12 year old Quarter horse mare. She was pregnant and 300lbs under weight. We had 1 health problem after another. she lost her foal. Infection spread thru her body and 4 months and 10,000 dollar later she had to be put down because she was so badly melnurtishe She broke her leg . We did everything we could to save her. She was solid black and in my eyes she was beautiful and I look past the ribs and hipbones. Tell your daughter that the best things in life are worth waiting for. Insure her that she will find her dream horse. If she is old enough to handle the truth tell her my story. Go to equine.com They have allot of great horse there.

Sometimes you have to re-evaluate what it is that you want in a horse. If shes really into competition then you might just need to settle for one that needs work in some areas. If you're looking for the elusive, push-button, anyone-can-win-blue-ribbons-on-this-horse, $1000 dollar horse....GOOD LUCK! I wish you the best. If she has a trainer or someone she takes lessons from, enlist their help to screen prospects for you, before you take your daughter to look at them. Riding horses IS emotional and depending on what you're looking for it CAN take a while. My only suggestion would be to weed out the horses that there really is NO WAY they are going to work out for what your daughter wants so that she doesn't get attached to them. ENLIST A TRAINER OR TRUSTED FRIEND to go check out horses first, even to ride them! I don't know how old your daughter is, maybe mid-teens by the sound of it. If you can't find a horse to BUY, maybe you could consider leasing a couple for short term until you find that perfect horse. Many people are looking for nice, dedicated riders, and then your daughter could ride, maybe even show, and LEARN what she REALLY wants in HER OWN horse. NEVER GIVE UP!!! Horse back riding is about partnership and respect. You can't force those things. Some day a horse with the appropriate training level and personality will come along...it just might take a while, but don't let her give it up!

Finding the right horse can be very trying especially when you have budget restarints. But by being "choosy" and finding the right horse for her will save her the heartache and ever-so-depressing situation of buying the wrong horse.Have you considered maybe retraining a retired racehorse? There are several places online that specialize in "adopting" out horses that the facility has "test-ridden" and make recommendations on horses suitable for new careers in the hunter/jumper ring. They can be acquired for a modest price also. Also try looking around nationwide at sites like dreamhorse.com etc.

How long have you been searching for a horse? A good trainer can solve most problems you have with a healthy animal. So hurry up and just pick something!
Though also concider that if your daughter is impatient and getting depressed at the wait for her new horse, she might be a bit spoiled (in the friendliest term of spoiled) and you shouldn't just buy a horse for her, have her work at a stable and earn the right to have a horse.

Try to find someone who needs to sell their horse because they're moving or something. Sometimes you can get a good horse fairly cheap because of it.

If you find one that looks good and is near your house, ask the owner if your daughter can take him/ her for a "practice ride" or groom it for a while for bonding. If you let her ride for a while, she might absolutely fall in love with one.

You might also be able to find some listings at a local tack shop.

You could also talk to some horse owners at the barn she rides at. Ask them about where they got their horses and if they would reccomend going about it the way they did.

Also, if you don't find a horse for her, remind her that you tried and keep looking. She shouldn't get too depressed if you still let her lease a horse and/ or take lessons.

I hope you find the perfect horse. Good luck!!!

His returned is wonderful, he's in basic terms lacking some intense muscle tissues and is in all risk a sprint underweight -- approximately 50lbs, supply or take. it is not intense. Get some weight and paintings on him and he will look extra constructive. yet the two way, he's no longer worth $a million,2 hundred. No confo. photos capacity little or no remark would be made approximately his regular condition. His greatest project is that, being at this age and unbroken, he will have ignored elementary training and could be particularly in the back of. the actuality he's had no floor exercising to construct up muscle capacity you are going to spend lots of time development him up too. he's very out of shape so till now even backing him i'd look at getting him on the lunge and on some hills. :/ His returned end seems honest sufficient. Low stifles, and his shoulder has a effective slope, yet risk is he won't be the tops. i'd bypass till you're finding for an high priced project that's going to take extra time entering into shape and coaching than would be worth what you're desirous to apply him for.

Keep reminding her that the right horse is out there, and you have to keep looking until you find it. I hope she has a horse to ride in the meantime, and sometimes that's a way to find a horse that she is compatible with, too. Good Luck!!

Go to the place with the mind set of "I will not fall in love with this horse".
I am not too sure what you can say to her. I am so sorry you have not yet found a horse that is perfect. What is wrong with the horses you have looked at? Is she picky or is it the money?

where the heck do you live??

not much you can say to her.. all I know is I am in a part of the world where horses (even good ones) are plentiful at reasonable costs (I am 3 hours north of Spruce Meadows)

if she is depressed about it taking so long - perhaps she should lower her standards or broaden her search.. not much you can say really
