I think on eof the mainfactors may be Phil Jackson. Now I maybe wrong, but let's say they had a different coach not from an elite team, like Bernie Bickerstaff from the Charlotte Bobcats otr the hawks-i forgot which one, the Lakers proabably would end up missing the playoffs. I along with many others think that they are striving to perfection with their young squad. I think that is proabably why they are doing so well-because they have so much energy to run and hustle the floor. Another alternative is their bench which has proven to be a deep one especially after their second-to-last game against Minnesota. The bench mainly went on that 34-7 fourth quarter run to lead the lakers to victory. And the last possibility I can think of is the 1-2 punch that Lamar Odom and Kobe provide, which probably isn't true because they are now 2-1 without Lamar.

1. Kobe Bryant and his ability to score and to lead(this season)
2. Lamar Odom : The best perimeter defender and rebounder on the team(ever since he went down, the opponents are scoring 100 ppg and Lakers winning mostly by outscoring their opponents) , halfcourt playmaker and a mismatch matchup.
3. Luke Walton : another playmaker on halfcourt.
4. Bench production not only on the offensive end but on the defensive end

However, the Lakers had Suns-like plague; to lost the lead in the 2nd half.

Because of Phil Jackson and his amazing coaching. Phil Jackson is the best coach in the nba with the most championship wins and he knows how to handle any type of team. He knows the right time to put the right player in and the game against minnesota, Phil made a great decision putting in the bench players which made them dominate the timberwolves at a 34-7 run at the fourth quarter.

They are not that good. They've had a cupcake schedule filled with weak teams and home games. They are a 4-5 seed at best. Especially in the west.

And that guy with the T-Mac comment...you obviously have a limited understanding of basketball. An affinity for scoring doesn't make you great, it doesn't even make you good. No one talked about Jordan until he learned how to make his team better. His fourth year in the league he was blowing people up but no one was talking about 'best player in history' until he learned how to win. T-mac will never be able to do that.

Contrary to popular belief it really is about winning.

They opened the season with that ridiculous home-only schedule. I believe they've played fewer road games than any team in the league so far this year. That's a huge advantage, so it's no wonder they have a great record so far. Just wait until they go out on the road for five or six straight later in the year; then we'll see if they're REALLY good or not.

Kobe is finally getting the rest of the team included. A lot of people have stepped up this year, like Walton. And look at the Kobe's PPG this year compared to last year at this time. Then look at Lakers record at this time last season. Kobe's PPG is lower and their record is better. Quincadence, I think not.

because theyre playing team ball. Kobes not taking 25 shots per game anymore. and the bench is the most productive bench in the NBA right now. 51 against TWolves and 42 against the Nets.

they were better way back with magic and Kareem, now all the depend on is Kobe...they are NOT good to begin with..they don't stand a chance with Phoenix Suns, San Antonio Spurs and like every other team out there.
