It took me 10 minutes to think how to answer this question, here is why:
1. I was mad at you for using the word partner. Partner, describes someone who works with you or works to help ou achive a goal. you are using the 2 money signs, so why dont you say husband/wife?
2. I have no HUSBAND/WIFE
3. You are gay
4. I wanted to make my answer sound cute and snappy
4. you are realy gay
5.You asked a stupid question
and the most important reason is:
6. You are GAY, GAY, GAY GAY GAY, YOU ARE GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!

In the past, it has been that the person spend as much or as little as they wanted. The person that had less income would end up spending less but would make up for it in other ways.
In my previous situations the fellow has always spend more on me than I on him but we weren't really keeping track anyway, so it didn't matter or be an issue, we were both happy in the end.

It really shouldn't matter. The thought counts and that you are together to enjoy Christmas. That what should matter not how much money your going to spend.

Actually, we try to out-do each other every occasion. We scrounge and stash secret mony for months before hand to try to "win".

Consider this: If your pants are on fire, you might welcome the glass of water far more than the bottle of 151 proof rum. After all, that's what friends do--they anticipate each others needs.
