about whether someone happens to be gay or whether a woman makes the difficult choice to have an abortion? How does is impact them personally? Why do they have to impose their morals on others? In my mind it is simple, if you are oppsed to gay marriage, don't marry someone of the same sex. I just don't get why the Republicans have become zealots about issues that have no impact on them as individuals?

The old saying goes; power corrupts - absolute power corrupts absolutely.

The Republicans have gone with out power in the US for a long time. Their main tenant as I see it, is to control all aspects of American life. They want a closed society, cutting off the rest of the world unless, as they see it, a particular country can have a beneficial (profitable) affect for the US. They are in the main religious fundamentalists or wish the world to perceive them that way..because it makes them look like they hold the highest moral ground.
(Radical Muslims think the same way)

You want to know what it would be like, just reflect on the last couple of years of the Bush reign. The Constitution and the laws of the land were changed, An invasion of a sovereign nation under bogus precepts. This republican administration violated the principals on which the republic was founded. In just a few years the republicans have done more damage to your country than anyone has done since the founding of the nation. They ran unopposed for five years controlling all areas of the government.

They rule with fear......they invent the fears.......(as if the world is not scary enough with out them crying wolf endlessly.)

They care (to answer your question) because it is their way or no way, there is no middle ground. When I was born we called people like them NAZIS.

Excuse me, but I am conservative and think that the government does not belong in our bedrooms or operating theatres.

Certainly the FEDERAL government doesn't, or what happened to the 10th amendment?

I understand the problem with abortion because there are two living beings, but until both are viable independant of the other, I don't know what the right answer is, and don't think the government does, either. We don't condone slavery, so how can we link one body to the service of another?

Dunno what's right. It is a moral issue, but not a legal issue, I think.

As to gay...

Who cares?

The issue is that gays want to change the law to make their relationships have the same legal standing as a traditional marriage. Why should 4% of the population have the right to impose their will on the rest of the country. 25% of the population smokes but they have to abide by the laws that the majority imposes.

Its a complex issue it isnt affecting them at all what other people do it is ," Violating" there so called,"Morals" for instance gay people only want happiness and the conservtives have made sure 96 percent of the homosexual population cant have it and if the goverment was smart they would get behind gay marriage cus they can tax it and also what if a evangilical woman was raped and became pregnant she would have to carry the spwan of a monster for 9 months i think her veiws on abortion would change really fast and what i dont get is why dont they try to help the childeren that are in need of helo that are alive infact pregnanacys arnt gaurnteed life forms they are potential life so they use violance fear and control to get people do do there bidding shows the leggacy of our country :-/

well, that's just likes saying why do liberals care so much about if someone is gay or not. why must liberals impose their morals on others. however, I do believe that everybody has a right to their body. what they put in it, who they have relationships with, or how they handle pregnancy or abortion. what we need is just to have common sense, and do our best to leave this world better than when we found it.

I'm republican and I support both a womans right to choose and the right for gays to marry...and I know others that feel the same. There is a wide range of issues that make a person decide one party over another and those aren't issues for me.

Maybe they are afraid of having a daughter like our V.P. Cheney, hell, I'd be afraid to have a father like him. That's a very good question, sorry but I don't have an answer for their beliefs or actions.

On the other side of the coin, why do Democrats try to reduce people's rights, such as the right to bare arms? Killing is killing is killing, right?

1. *ALL* laws are based on morals
2. Why do *YOU* think that you can impose *YOUR* morals on me?
