Go for a TFT LCD monitor rather than a CRT one. Look for the response times - faster is better (4ms is good, 10ms is poor). The contrast ratio - higher is better (800:1 is good, 400:1 is bad). Check the native resolution - higher the better.

Check out the Samsung 941BW.

First make sure your video card will support that monitor's native resolution..

Any of these are good.

Viewsonic, Samsung, Toshiba, Sony, GE, ... most of them come with 8ms response time...
do not worry about anything else..

4 ms refresh rate... samsung or viewsonic are good for the price
